Fabia Black

Fabia Black

St Paul's Studio Lead

I trained as a professional dancer at London Studio Centre where I was introduced to Pilates alongside my dance training to help rehabilitate injuries. I have 10 years’ experience in the fitness industry, working with a wide variety of clients across London. I trained as a STOTT Pilates instructor 5 years ago, as I grew to understand the long-term benefits of Pilates for all ages and abilities. Whilst my classes are calm, controlled and alignment focused, I love them to feel tough and challenging, so you leave with a sense of accomplishment and a deeper understanding of your body and the benefits that Pilates offers both mentally and physically.Fun Fact – I was once a backing dancer for The Pet Shop Boys at the Royal Opera House where I wore an inflatable fat suit (ask me and I’ll show you the photos)!

I started practicing Pilates as a teenager in Bento Gonçalves, in southern Brazil. In my 20s, I moved to Europe, bringing my love of Pilates with me. I focus on correcting posture and alignment, with an emphasis on breath, control, and precision. My aim is for people to leave my classes feeling proud of how far they pushed themselves and excited for the next one.The benefits of movement as therapy are something I’ve experienced firsthand. I firmly believe that exercise helped me cope both mentally and physically during my own cancer treatment, and it’s what inspired me to specialise in Cancer and Exercise Rehabilitation.
